First Blog Ever... Romans 8:28

Hi,

This is a test to see if my first blog even shows up. So here goes...

Today's social media and new technology have created new issues, new dilemmas, even new words ("Netiquette" instead of etiquette or "Sexting" instead of texting.) We all have to adjust whether we want to or not. No one is immune to the changes. My seventy-two year old Dad just said "LOL" recently.

Parents with teens have to deal with concerns over texting (or sexting!), single folks have to deal with technology dilemmas in the dating world (Is it okay to break up by email or by text?)  Facebook and Myspace have raised questions regarding cyber-bullying. Many employees across the country have had unpleasant reactions or consequences at work due to something they posted online. Marriages and lives have been ruined due to online gambling addictions or online porn. The list goes on and on...Our activity in the online world can get us into trouble.

But with all the negatives that technology and social media bring, we have to embrace the positives. Many old friends and old flames have reconnected online. Many Christian couples met through online Christian dating cites. People can request prayer online 24 hours a day.  Pastors and Christian authors are sharing their messages on the web. Churches are live streaming their services. Technology has given us new ways to fulfill our command to "go into ALL the world and preach the gospel" .

I recently had a Facebook situation that I wasn't sure how to deal with...at first I thought of some sarcastic comments I could make and came up with some passive/aggressive ways to deal with the issue, but I knew that was not really the right thing to do. After some prayer, I had an idea.  I decided to make a negative situation into a positive one. I decided to use facebook to help me with some of my goals.

I am a Christian and I speak regularly at my church and other churches as I get opportunities. One day I want to write a book and be a Christian author. So, I've decided to use my  Facebook "dilemma" as a way to work towards my goal. I am going to write something every day in my blog and post it online for everyone to read. I have changed my privacy settings on Facebook  back to public and friended as many people as I can.

Romans 8:28 says that "we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose".  God can work even in our negative situations, our hard times and use them to bring us good and to bring Him glory.
As long as you are alive, there will be some negative situations that you come across...even on a daily basis. Start thinking about negatives in your life that you can turn into a positive.
